Your One Stop Shop to Economic Information

Technology has drastically increased options for obtaining news

With the advancement of technology and the progression of the world to be so reliant on something that can fit in your hand (cough*, cough*, Iphone), the capabilities of the smart phone are endless. In the past, people would wake up in the morning, go to their doorstep, pick up the newspaper, and read it. This was their way of obtaining news, the simple and efficient way. As technology progressed, people were made able to simply flip on the television, or turn on the radio, and obtain news quickly and effortlessly. When smartphones and laptops became prevalent in society, it opened up the options to obtaining news. Now, an individual can download a news app and get updates on urgent or breaking news, thus making the process of taking in news even more effortless. As well, there are news applications for just about every news outlet these days. On my phone in particular, I have the New York Times, CNN, Fox, Bloomberg, and a few other news applications. Although I only use a few of them, I enjoy having some variety when choosing which news outlet has more appealing stories.

Bloomberg Makes The Stock Market Simple and Convenient

In particular, my favorite app is the Bloomberg app. One day, I decided that I wanted to make myself feel better about my knowledge in news and the economy. As a result, I downloaded the Bloomberg app and allowed for full “Push Notifications.” Now, whenever I wake up, I will have a barrage of news notifications on the economy and stock market. The bottom of the application has four buttons in which you can select and go to the information page. These include: “News,” “Markets,” “My Stocks,” and “Stock Finder.” My personal favorite aspect about this app is the News section. In the news section it has a few subsections (Videos, Worldwide, Exclusive, and Bloomberg Radio). Some of the Worldwide News stories even include videos to watch on the go. All of the articles that are uploaded to the application are relevant to the economy and useful for those interested in the stock market. With a touch of the screen, any iPhone user can check how the U.S stock market, or any other countries stock market is performing. For someone interested in starting up in the stock market or keeping track of their current stocks, the Bloomberg app is perfect. It supplies its users with an immense amount of information that include trend maps, past performance, related news, and all information related to the particular stock. By simply turning the iPhone landscape, the trend maps and past performance charts appear on the screen. Under the “Markets” tab, you can track the different markets such as Bonds, Currencies, Commodities, Equity Indices, and Equity Index Futures. The ease of use and great color scheme (Black background with white and orange writing) makes the Bloomberg app a priority on my list of IPhone Apps. Who needs a radio anymore when it’s included right on the app? Sometimes, I lie back in bed and listen to analysts talk about potential stocks that I am interested in or just about the economic performance. The app is a major reason behind my knowledge when pertaining to the economy and stock market. A CNET editor praised the application for itsstock market section, “Even better, entering stocks and your share holdings into the My Stocks folder creates a personalized portfolio you can watch for daily fluctuation.” Everything on it is in a neat, orderly fashion and is extremely informational. The ease of use and great color scheme (Black background with white and orange writing) makes the Bloomberg app a priority on my list of IPhone Apps. All in all, I would recommend that anyone interested in learning more about the economy should download the Bloomberg app. Overall, I would give the Bloomberg app a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
